I have also been contemplating how far I have come in the last decade of my life, and I have to say - really far, much further than I thought that I would get to in my early fifties and for that I am also grateful. Being able to have the means, the time and the money to improve my life is not something that I take for granted, it's incredible.
Check out these new years resolutions that I made in 2015.
1. Finish all of the reviews that I have listed on my genre lists (about 310 films to go!)
2. Drink more water
3. Do half an hour of exercise a day
4. Take up meditation and do it twice a week
5. Plan a gathering or get together once a month
6. Pay something forward or complete an act of random kindness once a week
I recall really bashing myself in 2016 becasue I had failed to complete this list, but I can honestly say that I have smashed all of these goals now, and how good is that?
1. I have over 1000 movies reviewed on my blog now and no back log of reviews to complete.
2. I drink lots of water all of the time and carry a drink bottle all of the time.
3. I exercise every day; I do daily cardio and yoga three times a week. And I walk all the time as well.
4. I meditate every-single-day.
5. I am involved in a monthly new moon circle soundbath, a monthly trivia night, a monthly Spicywatch movie night, a monthly book club and a monthly meditation group. I set up regular gatherings with family, friends and work collegues and I am very proactive about sharing my time with others.
6. I spend so much time trying to pay it forward whenever I can; being kind and thoughtful to others is something that I do daily, not just weekly. I am always looking for ways to fill someone elses bucket and I am very comfortable with complimenting people and calling out excellence in others.
All in all, I have come a long way as a person and I have improved myself body, mind and soul over the last decade; and what a blessing it is to set goals and then meet them, to recognise and appreciate the road that I've travelled and to be so excited about the opportunities that lay ahead of me. I'm just so filled with gratitude! And to be grateful is also a blessing.
Release Date: 2024
Rating: PG
Running Time: 120 mins
A political and religious drama; directed by Edward Berger, written by Peter Straughan and based on the 2016 novel by Robert Harris. Conclave delivers a stunning and compelling tale about spirituality, stewardship and the Catholic church, and it is also an absolute pleasure to watch.
After the pope dies of a heart attack, the College of Cardinals, under the leadership of its dean, Thomas Lawrence, convene to elect a successor. But even in the house of the lord, there is betrayal and a lust for power that threatens to tip the balance of the church.
I don't think that Ralph Fiennes is ever anything short of incredible, but I felt that this may be his best role to date because he is astoundingly good as Thomas Lawrence. Admittedly, he is finely supported by Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow and Isabella Rossellini, who also manage to steal some hard to get limelight here as well.
Conclave is an outstanding watch and will have you riveted, right to the very end. Don't miss this gem.
FINAL SAY: If there was only certainity and no doubt, there would be no mystery.
