So in an attempt to self help and mind manage, I've discovered the power of Radical Acceptance. Radical Acceptance is a meditative practice wherein we acknowledge what we’re experiencing—positive or negative—and we welcome it. It’s a powerful tool that allows us to be fully present in each passing moment. And it helps us avoid getting stuck in our own heads.
However, Radical Acceptance does go against all of our conditioned reactions, so it's not always easy to adopt. Rather than embracing physical and emotional pain, in general we tend to resist it; we tense up our muscles and our minds and we go straight to wondering about what could be causing the pain, how long it might last and what we can do to make it go away as soon as possible. Perhaps we might even blame ourselves for the pain, thinking that it’s a sign of our own shortcomings. Even when things are going well, we start telling ourselves stories about how we don’t deserve the good fortune, when it might end, or how it may lead to more pain in the long run (like eating an ice cream cone while worrying about how many calories are in it).
By building up these narratives around our experiences, we distance ourselves from the experiences themselves. These narratives become harmful mantras about how we have to do more, do better, be better to make the pain go away. Even our good experiences become tainted with anxiety because we don’t simply accept them as they happen. Radical Acceptance pushes back against these feelings and helps us to recognize and identify toxic and destructive emotions. It offers a tool to redirect thoughts, which gives you the power you need to direct your emotions in ways that allows you to grow and explore your potential.
In short - less panic and a lot more disco! And boy do I need that right now! So here are some Radical Acceptance statements that I am currently adopting to stop myself from spiralling, which will probably give you some idea about what I am experiencing without me needing to unpack the details.

What began in 2019 as a viral internet urban legend and creepypasta Youtube series offering from Kane Parsons, adpated in 2026 to become the most talked about horror movie of the year. This science fiction/ horror had me hooked from the opening scene, and with more twists and turns than its mysterious labyrinth hallways, Backrooms will leave you unsettled with it's deeply psychological and atmospheric tone.
Clarke's already messy life is about to get even more confusing. Struggling with his separation and alcoholism, Clarke discovers that the furniture store that he owns and currently lives in has a dark secret. In the basement there is a hidden door that can transport you to another dimension; one full of seemingly endless rooms and obscure open spaces.
I don't want to give too much away because I went in pretty blind on this and loved it but Backrooms really is an impressively eerie and extremely unsettling watch. Brimming with mystery, this is startling debut directorial offering from Kane Parsons, who became the youngest director (at just 20 years of age) to have a film reach number one at box office, really deserves all the attention that it received.
It's weird, well crafted and very well acted with Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mark Duplass and Renate Reinsve bringing their best to the screen; overall it's undeniably affecting and equally intruiging and I cannot deny that as a horror fan, you really can't leave Backrooms off your must see list.
FINAL SAY: We all have our loops. Our habits. Behaviours that keep us walking in circles.
