Just like 2024, the viewing opportunities in 2025 grew so fast that I found myself yet again frantically juggling all of my streaming services and struggling to get to the cinema often enough because as always, I seemed to have an over-abundance of new release material to trawl through. This year my viewing was made all the more challenging because I was working and travelling a lot more, which did leave me feeling exhausted more often than usual as well, so needless to say, I didn't get through nearly as much viewing as I would've liked to overall, but I did still manage to see a lot of quality offerings.
And just like 2024, there was a head spinning amount of high quality viewing material to absorb this year, and I was very grateful to be constantly distracted by a huge variety of viewing choices. Long story short, we were all very spoilt for choice and if you couldn't find something to watch in 2025, then in my opinion, you just weren't trying hard enough!
I managed to get through 163 movies and 114 television series this year. Basically, I was flat out watching something most days of the year and I still barely touched the sides of my forever lengthening 'to see' list, which has now blown out to more than 600 titles, so it is fair to say that I am not going to be slowing down any time soon.
The task of seeing everything that is released in a year has become arduous beyond anyone's means, and unless you are willing to permanently strap yourself to the couch and do nothing but watch movies and TV, there is just no way that you can manage to see it all in one year. So now more than ever, you must be discerning, and hopefully this is where I can offer a hand and some sound advice around what you should be investing in your time in; if you haven't done so already.
Again, I was thrilled to be able to view so many great movies and TV across all genres, for which I am always grateful. In particular, I again really appreciated seeing so many excellent horror, thriller and sci-fi offerings; most of which boasted stunningly good visuals, terrifically original storylines and some exceptional re-tells as well.

Flow is a true feast for the eyes and a beautiful journey into an inspiring and mostly silent form of animated storytelling. Even more impressive, is the fact that the entire film, which took four years to complete, was created using the free, open source software, Blender.
A stray black cat attempts to survive an apocaplytic environment, where the water levels keep rising at an alarming rate, along the way befriending a motley crew of other animals also trying to survive against the flood.
In a word, enchanting. This film is visually stunning and utterly captivating, I was mesmerised. The animal characters are so well fleshed out that they literally come alive on the screen, and the story itself is so thoughtfully delivered. I cannot fault this, its a slice of unmissable cinema and a stroke of visual genius!
