A few years ago I called together a group of like minded, cinema loving individuals to get a snapshot of people's thoughts on what they believed was a worthy cinematic experience. Which movies stuck with them? Which movies mattered to them? And which movies did they go back to time and time again? And this endeavour led me to a few conclusions. The first was that some people will watch any shit and think that it is quality viewing, so sad; heartbreaking really. The second is that genres blur and categorizing movies is a major pain in the arse that I am still struggling with. And lastly, and most importantly, I learnt that you need to be discerning and open minded about the movies that you watch because they truly do shape your thoughts and opinions, just like all forms of media do. Movies can sway you, they can liberate you and they can affect you. The movies that a person chooses to watch really tells you a lot about who they are; revealing what they find endearing, harrowing, funny and disgusting. So why wouldn't you care about what you are watching? And why wouldn't you choose to watch quality movies that can transport you to other places, allow you to walk a mile in someone else's shoes or even educate you? Come on people! It's time to be discerning and start watching something with some real substance, something worthy of your time and energy. And you can relax, because I have even done all of the hard work for you already and weeded out all of the shitty movies in advance. Spicywatch has got your back my friend! In my genre tab you will find hundreds of reputable movies to view at your leisure and the Hall of Fame list, well that goes without saying, pure gold viewing right there. So pop the corn and pull down the shades, put your phone on silent and kick off your shoes, it's time to indulge in some quality viewing. Oh, and most importantly, happy viewing!
