However, without a car of my own and the prospect of Serenity moving on to another owner soon, I had to get myself busy purchasing a new car, and she's a beauty! A 2010 silver Holden Cruze, and I have called her Penelope, because just like Penelope Cruz she is loud on the outside but tiny under the bonnet. She is a modest 4 cylinder car but her black leather interior and Tron like dashboard scream of high maintenance, so Penelope she is.
Penelope is the first automatic car that I have ever owned, and this is a concept that is going to take a bit of getting used to. I can't even count the amount times that I have tried to pump a non existent clutch and I have even pulled the the stick out of drive trying to change gears. Hopefully I will not continue to be so hard on Penelope because unlike Serenity I don't think that she was built for flogging.
I tell you one thing that I know for sure, I can feel a road trip coming on very soon. Time to gather my favourite allies and head out for some adventure, new territory awaits me and Penelope is just dying to take me there.

You wouldn't think that a movie that is all shot within the confines of a car with one man talking on the telephone would make for very interesting viewing, but you would be so wrong. Locke is extremely compelling viewing, from the first phone call to the last; we watch as Ivan Locke's life unravels rapidly, all in real time and all delivered by the one man show that is Tom Hardy.
I feel that I would be doing everyone a disservice if I even mention the story line here, because the less you know about Locke the better. All that I can say without giving anything away is that a dedicated family man and committed construction manager undertakes his biggest challenges over an hour and a half, whilst he is behind the wheel of a car, and it is gob-smackingly good.
Tom Hardy yet again demonstrates his staggering ability as an actor by giving so much depth and character to Ivan Locke. There are no other actors to be seen here, only their voices are heard, but there is certainly no lack of story or emotion. This is brave and clever cinema, it's absolutely unmissable.
FINAL SAY: I want to know that I am not driving in one direction.
